Btw., is it safe to use PMV_USESQUARES16 with that as default for 
"search precision 6" as well? Is the gain which EPZS shows deriving from 
there? Sorry, this is a dumb question, but I'm just a little too weak to 
understand the implementation right, it gives me a headache every time I 
try to read that :)

Ok, see the attached files, and you can delete the xvid.h files in 
dshow/src and vfw/src, it compiles flawlessly. In VFW I also fixed a 
small thing, the file-selection box for "hinted MVs" wasn't disabled 
during 1pass modes.

If I build some #ifdefs around those entries, it would be easy to switch 
that on and off by a define in xvid.h... that's the idea behind it. But 
it has impact on the VFW about box, clearly stating that you used that. 
I think this can save some trouble in case people think their xvid build 
is buggy, you can point them to the about box and can easily detect 
which features were switched on. With that knowledge it would be easier 
to track down the problems, if they occur and get reported.
Of course, this only helps the windows-side of xvid, dunno how to solve 
that in *NIX.

That's the most convenient solution, you're right. So I'll leave at-is 
for the moment. Any idea when syskins code gets commited to cvs? I'd 
like to test that (of course only in my private environment.)
