I had a look at lots of ways for SMP. All of them are a pain in the a**,
if you don't want to modify the complete core. 

What would be possible is SMP in second pass, when it's clear where
keyframes are to be set, or some kind of cluster mode (split the
source files, concat the AVI files), but both could be on application
level, not on codec level. 

or SMP for B-frames (best with max_b=2 for dual-CPU).

The rest, I won't touch for the moment, because XVID is too fast already
to really gain from SMP.
