I tested encoding yesterday.
XviD was faster (something like 35 seconds while 3ivx was 38 seconds).
The resulting filesize at quant 2 was better in XviD video (8000 KB vs
8300KB, more or less).
When decoded with ffdshow (changed 3ivx's fourcc to xvid), 3ivx was
10dB (!) worse - well I can't really believe that, the picture looked
quite the same to me.

And that's the end of my tests ;).
