Hm, what I meant is:

sum-of-abs-values-of-dct-coefficients  is energy
sum-of-squared-values (sse)  is also energy
SAD is not energy
sum-of-squared-values-of-dct-coefficients is not energy either

... and it was the last thing that I tried to use :)
