[XviD-devel] Changes in Source <-> Xvid 1.0

I think you minimize too much the matrix quant problem. I showed how it
can impact both image quality and the stream syntax. It's not only
theory, it happened to me using transcode, it happened to a doom9 user
too.

I started this huge task some time ago and gave up because of the
amazing amount of changes it represented (at that time i just unified
the de/quant API).

But this change is required *before* 1.0. And trust me, it's not fun to
replace all that functions (touching more than 25 files). It's a TODO
item that has always been there. I picked it up again this week, because
as you see it's one of the last items left in this TODO list[1].

As a last humor word for the evening...

Can you imagine announcing XviD 1.0 that way ?
"We are proud to release XviD 1.0"

Personal answer:
I can't. Because i would not be proud at all to release software with
known majors flaws.

[1] as the IRC channel's topic says:
Contributions are welcome, TODO list on the CVS
