Disagreed. mplayer  aligns planes on  specific bounds and  uses specific
strides  for  each  plane  according  to the  -vo  driver.  It's  really
important to keep this mode.

So  bad, I  had  a nice  AVI showing  what  happened when  xvid was  not
respecting strides in mencoder, but i deleted it a few days ago
