To be honest, I'm surprised there are only so few errors... I lost my ia64 acc 
some one-and-a-half year ago, so there has been no testing form my part... I 
would be glad to hear about some test results, if you had any...

And there should be much place for optimizations, as the code was written on 
(and optimized for) an itanium 1, so I think the assembly could perform much, 
much better.

If I happen to have some spare time, I maybe try gathering some of the people 
who first wrote the ia64 port and do some coding (and get a fresh account on 
an itanium 2). But I can't make any promises, as I have to write my diploma 
thesis...
