[XviD-devel] xvid avi looks blured close to motion of people on linux build but not win32 build

Hi,

I think this is most suited for here, as i think the problem is to do
with default options for xvid when compiled with gcc.. perhaps.

I am using xvid-1.0.0-pre4 on GNU/Linux with mplayer. I used /mencoder/
to create a 704x400 1400kbit avi:
mencoder dvd://2 -ovc xvid -xvidencopts bitrate=1400 -vf scale=704:400
-oac mp3lame -lameopts vbr=3 -ss 15 -o outputtest.avi

(I cut it short, just did first 10mins or so)

The avi when played with mplayer had great frame rate, but the motion
around the characters in the video was blurred, such that around their
hair the background close to their heads wobbled very noticeably. What
was weird that using xvid 1.0.0 release with Media Player Classic on
win2k did not have such artifacts.

I compiled with gcc 3.2 from mdk9.0 distro. I wonder if the windows
xvid codec somehow has different settings when compiled? Would the fact
that I am using pre4 to encode and 1.0.0 official release on win2k cause
this? I am using no specific advanced settings I believe.

Kind regards

JG
