[XviD-devel] Questions on Quantization

Dear Experts,

I'm studing xvidcore-1.1.0-beta1 and has below questions on quatization:

1) The implementation of H.263 quantization method in xvidcore is based on N3980 standard, but this method has been revised from N3908 to N4350. That is, xvidcore isn't incompliant to latest standard. As a result, the decoder with xvidcore may has reasonless subjective performance to playback such bitstreams encoded by non-xvid encoders. And then how to implement an self-adaptive quantization in decoder side to support the both methods?

2) According to the implementation of MPEG quantization method in xvidcore, the mismatch control isn't performed for intra-block. Why? The mismatch control should be performed for both inter-block and intra-block according to the standard's description.
