I agree to Michael Militzer.
I'm not a lawer though.
Remember that GPL protects users' freedom. The user
should understand that the videos could be played
using XviD, DivX, or any other compatible codec. It is
better if the user is able to choose (ie. during
installation) which codec he can use, recommending
XviD because it's free and will enhance user
experience etc etc. If you include the codec along
with the binary, you should include the other codecs
as well. However DivX and Co. won't let you do this
for free...
A good solution seems the # 2 (Internet download)
Including XviD in the binary and allowing to download
DivX from Internet is another option. But I think that
would be a gray area. Gray areas are always
susceptible from going to court. :D

If your intention is to ONLY allow XviD through WMP,
you're definetly violating the GPL, because your
program's functionality directly depends on XviD.
